Eric,

I think it's critical to get a native IUP driver running on the Apple
desktop UI. We have been close so many times and for some reason or
another it goes back into hibernation.

What are your concerns and suggestions to finalize this project?

The easiest answer is funding. If people can fund me to work on it,
then I can actually work on it. This could be done in all sorts of
manners, like contract work, Patreon like model, flat donations, or
whatever creative things you can dream up.

The next answer is getting more volunteers/contributors. That’s why
I’m pushing for IUP to participate in Google Summer of Code this year,
and I’m willing to be a mentor. (This is actually my clever solution
to the funding problem, where Google supplies the funding to get
students and mentors involved.)

Thanks,
Eric

Hi, Eric.

If I would like to participate in "Google Summer of Code", how could I do?
Where can I find info?

Thanks.

If you are interested and able to be a mentor, then let me know more
about what you can do. I'm proposing projects for each of the backends
I've discussed (Mac, iOS, Android, Emscripten).

I've been privately discussing this with Antonio Scuri and been
recruiting additional mentors to help. I'm doing what I can provide
what IUP needs to make this happen in terms of writing up the
proposals, recruiting mentors, and so forth. I'm willing to be
involved for all projects, but in case Google wants more people, right
now I have another person for Emscripten, and another person to help
on Mac or iOS. I would love to find another Android mentor. (Right now
the biggest concern is if we can find the correct administrator at
PUC-Rio in time to sign off any legal things the GSoC application
requires of the "IUP organization".)

If you are a student, then read more about GSoC at the official site.
Student applications start in March I think.
